Gift to my former boss
Before I started a career as an artist I had worked as a research scientist in a laboratory. For several years, I had worked in the field of HIV research. But during the months before I left the group my research focused on MBP - the myelin basic protein, which is located in the brain. Defects in the MBP protein are thought to be linked to Multiple Sclerosis.
The art quilt shows the brain and an ESI-MS (electrospray ionization mass spectrum) of the purified MBP protein.
