Eternal Motion

Clouds in the sky, wind, ocean waves and sand dunes are in never-ending motion. Their power seems endless, eternal. Compared to this magnificence I'm just a tiny piece of the bigger picture. My worries are blown away, washed away, and one time when I'll be gone the elements of nature will still be in eternal motion.

ESI of MBP


The Myelin Basic Protein (MBP) is one of the major proteins in the human brain. Disorders in the fine-structure of MBP are thought to be related to Multiple Sclerosis. In my work as scienist I purified MBP from mouse brain and analyzed it by electrospray ionized (ESI) mass spectrometry.

I created the blossoms of this tree using narrow fabric strips and quilting over them in a spiral motion. When I asked my five-year old son what he saw in the quilt, his answer was " curly frisbees". Hence the title...

Viola


Viola is the botanical name for pansy. The variety of pansies is simply amazing. With the multitude of color combinations of petals, center and veins I could not help but be inspired by "Viola".
